Mission


The Mission of ACESS is to enhance the technical environment in the Akron area through coordination and cooperation with the technical societies, industry and academia. ACESS provides broad industrial and academic representation and a widely diversified science and technology source. Detached from special interest groups, it offers an excellent opportunity for effective informative public service.

Who is ACESS?
ACESS is a 501(c)(3) organization consisting of technical and scientific societies with an organized speaking voice for the technical community.  ACESS represents over 3000 engineers, scientists and technicians in the greater Akron area.  Membership is open to all disciplines of science and technology from both industry and academia.

Outreach Goals
1. To promote interest in science and mathematics in K-12 students

2. To encourage pursuit of careers in science, engineering and technology related disciplines

3. To encourage higher level technical education in local institutions

4. To provide technical career opportunities locally

5. To provide a tie between science, physics and mathematics educators and the technical community

Annual Awards
An Annual Scholarship Winner award to two outstanding local university students.

The annual selection of an outstanding Akron Area citizen for the Distinguished Award of Council. This honors the recipient for involvement in civic activities as well as for technical and managerial abilities.

The annual selection of an outstanding ACESS member for the ACESS Award.  This honors the recipient for outstanding contributions to the Akron Council of Engineering and Scientific Societies.
