Why?
The Mission of ACESS is To enhance the technical environment in the Akron area through coordination and cooperation with the technical societies, industry and academia.
ACESS provides broad industrial and academic representation and a widely diversified science and technology source. Detached from special interest groups, it offers an excellent opportunity for effective informative public service.
What is it?
ACESS is a 501(c)(3) organization consisting of technical and scientific societies with an organized speaking voice for the technical community. ACESS represents over 3000 engineers, scientists and technicians in the greater Akron area. Membership is open to all disciplines of science and technology from both industry and academia.
Who is it?
ACESS is comprised of the membership of the local sections of the following societies:

ACESS activities include
An Annual Scholarship award to two outstanding local university students.
The annual selection of an outstanding Akron Area citizen for the Distinguished Award of Council. This honors the recipient for involvement in civic activities as well as for technical and managerial abilities.
The annual selection of an outstanding ACESS member for the ACESS Award. This honors the recipient for outstanding contributions to the Akron Council of Engineering and Scientific Societies.
The recruiting of judges for the Akron Science and Technology Expo in the public schools and for the Western Reserve District Science Day.
The furnishing of office services for member societies.
The publishing of a list of speakers for local schools and other organizations.
The sponsorship of an annual Honors and Awards Banquet to recognize outstanding technical people and to strengthen the ties among the members of ACESS, the academic world and the distinguished leaders of local industry.
The conducting of seminars on timely technical matters pertinent to community interests.
The availability of aid for career planning for Akron area students.
